Nathalia is nestled on the banks of the Broken Creek and the road weary traveller can be assured of a lovely peaceful creek side picnic spot in which to relax and rejuvenate. Nathalia provides all essential services in peaceful surroundings, and is becoming a popular haven for tourists seeking that “get away from it all” location.
Nathalia is a town with an old-fashioned country feel in a flat agricultural and dairying area, 230 km north of Melbourne via Shepparton. Consisting of some 1900 people it is spread over both banks of Broken Creek on the Murray Valley Highway, between Echuca and Cobram.
Annual events include the Easter Bush Bash, Nathalia Spring Show and the New Year’s Eve Market Carnival. The Bush Bash entails a major tennis tournament, involving some three hundred competitors. It takes place on the town’s 16 lawn tennis courts.
The Nathalia Annual Spring show features horse competitions as well as cattle, sheep and goat events. For those not as interested in the livestock, there are many Pavilion events like cookery & preserves, arts, plants, floral art and needlework on show for everyone to see. Held first Saturday in October each year.
Join hundreds of local and visitors at the Nathalia and District Lions Club New Year’s Eve Market Carnival. Located in the picturesque creek side and main Street of Nathalia, this is a great night out for everyone. Rides, market stalls, shearing and blacksmith demonstrations, huge selection of food vendors, live bands and much more. See the New Year in with a magnificent fireworks display at midnight at the recreation reserve.
